TIPS WHEN EATING OUT
  1. Ask for oil and vinegar instead of other dressings with your salad.
  2. Order your fish or chicken grilled, baked or steamed.
  3. Ask for sauces on the side so you can control the portions.
  4. Don’t be afraid to ask for a doggy bag. Most portions are 2-3 size the recommended servings sizes, especially when it comes to steak, pizza and pasta.
  5. Share a few dishes with friends so your meals are more balanced. For example, order one pasta dish, one salad and one fish dish and share all three.
  6. Try Indian, Thai, Mexican, Japanese, Moroccan and Ethiopian Restaurants as their options are generally healthier than generic restaurants, having smaller portions and more vegetarian options.
  7. Buffets can be great since you can control your portion sizes and eat a wide variety of foods, especially if their is a salad bar. On the other hand if you can’t control the quantity you eat best to stay away from them.
  8. As for olive oil and balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, lemons and/or other condiments to make your own sauces.
  9. Dip your fork into dressing on the side with each mouthful rather than pouring it on your salad.
